Eight of us traveled to Redwood Falls, MN Saturday morning for a fall golf outing. We played Redwood Falls Country Club on Saturday afternoon, stayed at Jackpot Junction casino on Saturday night and played Dakotah Ridge on Sunday morning. The weather was spectacular, the courses were outstanding, my scores were just OK, the camaraderie, priceless!
I got back to Sioux Falls at 4 PM, changed clothes and went out to mow our yard. A pleasant surprise awaited. The Monarch butterflies had made Donna's flowers a stop-over place on their long journey South. A few pictures follow.

Hunting Walleyes at the Silver Water Wheel Lodge
Well here are the results of my second trip to Canada this year. We had a great time and good luck fishing in June at Grassy Narrows - but the three and one-half days fishing on Lac Seul last week will go down as the best fishing I have ever had, anywhere.
With friends, Wayne Hansen, Bernie DeWald, and Mel Anderson I ventured to the north again. After about 750 miles we arrived at Silver Water Wheel Lodge which is located on the south side of Lac Seul. It is a bit of a challenge to get to the lodge, what with the pot holes, rocks, lumber trucks, and critters running up and down the trail that leads to the camp. But once you arrive the trip is well worth the effort.
The rules of the lodge dictate that each walleye that is landed be recorded with the length, location, date, and angler's name. At the end of each day the guides compile these stats and they are then entered into a data base that becomes a log for all to see, to be used for tracking purposes in the future.
(you can see these stats from the 2004 season on their web site - www.sww-lodge.com)
On Thursday, September 8, 2005, Mel, guide Ryan, and I caught, recorded, and released 161 walleyes over 18 inches in length with 2/3rds of them being over 20 inches in length, the longest being 29 inches.
Following are some snaps that I took while there - I hope that you enjoy them. I guess that the next outing will be next month when I stalk the wiley South Dakota pheasants, opening day is October 15th, I am starting the count down tomorrow. In case you are wondering, yes, work does get in the way of my other pasions.
